Lately I have been hearing this question; have you get ready for New Year? What does that mean? Whether we have buy what we need to buy; clothing, goodies, stuff up food in the fridge or spring cleaning; clearing old furniture, old clothing or household stuffs.. I am not a CNY person. I do prefer Christmas than CNY. It’s not because I have to give out AngPow. The mood is totally difference. I feel peace and holy during Christmas and the total opposite for CNY.
There are surcharges everywhere; foods are more expensive; surcharges for hair cut, mani/pendi.. Even for dog grooming there are surcharges too. I believe you want your pooch to get pretty and neat during CNY.
What do you usually do during CNY? Besides eating and drinking when you visit friends and relatives’ house. Some people do show off their achievements in the previous year. “How Lian” (Boast) on which property they bought or their earning from the stocks.
My relatives will usually visit my parent during the first day of New Year; those are the pretty close ones.. Cousins, aunties and uncles. I used to arrange games like Bingo and treasure hunt for everyone. I believe everyone does enjoy that as old and young can play together. This is another way of getting bonded rather than just 4 parties bond in the mahjong game. While, I shall start planning some games now. Gong Xi Fa Cai .. Huat Ah!!
