Cataract

Lucky is an old lady. At the age of 14, she is still actively played around. Taking a closer look, she actually have cataract on both of her eyes.
Cataract is an eye disease in which the lens becomes covered in an opaque film that affects sight, eventually causing total loss of sight. The condition usually affects age dogs and is generally found in both eyes to varying degrees. It can be treated surgically by replacing the lens with an artificial implant. One of the heartbreaks that happen as animal's age is the development of cataracts. This is much more common in dogs than in cats. When it gets to the point that the animal can no longer see, traditional medicine says the only thing they can do for it is surgery to remove the cloudy lens. The surgery is expensive and many loving owners would find it difficult, especially in today’s financial state, to come up with the funds for the surgery. In Singapore surgery cost may cost $2500 per eye and it must be performed by a specialist in veterinary ophthalmology. In fact, small dogs have higher rates of cataracts than large dogs.
