Rat Race or the new 5Cs

I have read this Strait Times article this morning and I find it quite interesting.
“The pursuit of the 5Cs- Cash, Credit card, Car, Country club membership and Condo is driving the obsession to work, work and work and not fall behind in the rat race. Our possessions will not matter when we die and we cannot take them with us. Perhaps the material things in life will seem less important.
When we die, will our last thoughts be about the house we dreamt about and the unfinished assignments at work, or will they be about our loved ones?
We will have lived a sad, empty life if we are surrounded by things we own, but no one we love. So how about a different set of 5Cs: Care, Concern, Compassion, Communication and Contentment. Life in 21st century Singapore is stressful, but with a fresh set of 5Cs, we may yet make our days happy.”
Since 2009, I have set myself a goal; it would be spending more quality time with the family. We are always busy with our work, passion and hobbies that neglect our friends and love ones. My family is quite close and we usually have outing such as picnics, exercise, weekend breakfasts and short trip together. I have made it a point to put this as a monthly event even how busy I am. Hope you have planned something for you and your family too.
