Why does Dogs eat their poop?

Have you seen dogs eating their own poop? It’s because the dog is lacking certain digestive enzymes. When this occurs, the dog will eat his own stool, to conserve those much needed enzymes. Studies have shown that insufficient vitamin B1 can cause stool eating. So its time for you to change its diet.

Other reason maybe your dog is left alone all day, with little very human contact, and very little to do; their only choice for self-entertainment may be to play with and eat their own poop. Imagine if you were cooped up in the house all day with nothing to do; you would go a bit crazy as well. Try giving them some toys that they can self entertain them while nobody is around.

I have customers who will turn their TV or radio on to keep their dogs company when they are not around. (One day your dog maybe able to sing that "Lady Gage’s song after listening for many times" LOL)
Bored dogs will often develop behavioural issues and cause significant property damage. It is important to walk your dog regularly (preferably every day) and to provide interesting toys and activities to keep his mind sharp and engaged.
My dogs work for her food, either by performing dog obedience commands, or through interactive toys. If you provide a lot of alternative activities for your dog, he will be less likely to find unacceptable entertainment on his own, including eating his poop.

Anal Glands

Every dog has two anal glands or sacs, near the rectum. These sacs are sometimes called scent glands, and may be a way dogs identify each other. Hence, the tendency for nose-to-rear sniffing. The secretion that comes out is liquid and brownish. Anal sacs can also be emptied as the result of sudden contraction of the anal sphincter-when the dog is frightened or upset for example. Soft stools are a primary cause of malfunctioning glands. When the sacs do not empty normally, they can become impacted and infected. Your pooch may be giving you a clue that she is having anal gland trouble if she scoots on her rear, or bites her tail, rump, or rear as though in pain. Over-full glands can be relieved by a quick expression of the fluid by hand; infected glands will require antibiotic therapy. Your furry kid will normally get their anal glands expressed at every grooming so check with your groomer on this.

The Power of Giving

I have this habit of buying a book from the airport whenever I went on holiday. The last trip to Hainan Island with my parent, I bought a book called “The power of giving by Azim Jamal & Harvey McKinnon"

It’s an inspirational book that give valuable advice. “Giving does more than just improve the lives of others; it affects our own lives. When most of us think of giving, we usually think only in terms of time and money, things we would like to share but have barely enough of for ourselves.” This book guides us through the benefits and importance of giving kindness, ideas, advice, attention, skills, time, and hope to others. Personally I find it quite useful.
There is an interesting story in this book that I like to share:
“An elderly carpenter who was ready to retire. The carpenter told his employer of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife, enjoying his extended family. The employer was sorry to see his employee go and asked if he would build just one more house as a person favour to him. The carpenter reluctantly agreed. He did sloppy work and he used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.
When the carpenter finished his work, the employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said. "It’s my retirement gift to you" The carpenter was shocked. If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.
Treat others in the way you wish to be treated, you will build the house with love and care... Always do your best because the choices you make today build your future.

On Leave

Hi Customer

Miss Groomer is going for one month leave.

Leave me a message if you need advice or service from me :P

Does Size Matter?

There are a few requirements when I was shopping for toy poodle few months back.
1. Color
2. Gender
3. Size
4. Activeness/ Healthiness
5. Bone structure
In the past I wasn’t that concern on the above requirements. After been through those grooming course and competition, these are rather important.
Pet owner might not bother how their pub’s structure. If you are looking for a pedigree dog, these are the basic needs. E.g. West’s ears must be pointed instead of loop. Kerry blue terrier’s tail must be standing instead of pointed down.
It’s not easy to find such a prefect dog unless you are willing to pay for a premium price.
Two weeks ago, Miko happened to meet Haru; her sister. I guess they are happy to see one another after about 4 months apart. They are now 5 months old and you can see some differences between them. Guess which is Miko??
I do matter on size. My friend’s toy poodle grew really well. She has long legs and body that makes her look like giraffe. Hope both of Miko and Haru grew up in their proportional sizes.
