Inspiration

I got inspired when I read this book "The monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma" at my Bali trip. I would usually review on what I have achieved and not achieve for those goals set previous year. Nerveless this year, I did the same. Some have exceeded but some still required more "oil". This book is giving me tips about goals, habits, productivity, simplifying, frugality and more.
I have this weakness of not being able to be Right 1st time. There are some practical advices from the book that could help me to concentrate and focus more. There is no mistakes in life, only lesson learn.
Being Dare to Dream and expect the best and you will be astonished at the result.
In next year goals, I have set my positive pressure in:
* Physical fitness
* Financial goal
* Personal Empowerment
* Relationship and social
* Spiritual
Living life the fullest like it’s your last day. The purpose of life is a life of purpose. Deep right!! I took a while for me to know what this meant.
If you don’t even know where you are going, how will you ever know when you get there.
When I am down, I will need those inspiration books to inspire or motivate me to focus and back to my track. Hope you are able to find your purpose of life soon.
Happy reading :P

What I want for Christmas?? Is You!!

Have you got yourself a Christmas present? I wanted to get a good camera for myself for Christmas. I want to take some good pictures which are one of my goals for next year. To learn a new skill; Photo shooting. What about our fury friend? Have you got something for them too?
Here are some choices that you can pick out.
1. Treats for your dogs
2. New bed
3. New toy
4. Nice clothing and accessories
5. New pair of shoe
6. Perfume
7. Spa packages
Sounds like they are pamper. Don't get jealous as you have them most of the year.

Food is a big part of most holiday traditions, but many of the delicacies and treats we enjoy are not suitable for our pets. Avoid feeding your dog:
Chocolate: It's toxic to your pet.
Macadamia nuts: These are another toxic item for your dog.
Turkey and chicken: These may be tasty, but they pose a choking hazard.
Onions: These can cause heart problems when eaten in volume.
Raisins and grapes: These items can cause renal failure when consumed in high quantities. Alcohol: Not on your pet's menu

Cheers and Have a Happy Holiday!!

Exercise with you Doggy

I have just completed my half marathon last weekend. A great achievement for year 2009. Everyone was asking me to run for full marathon for next year and I am thinking there must be a lot of training and training. Elmo used to train with me, twice a week for 5km and I enjoyed his company. Exercise with your dog as they need to be healthy too.
You know that exercise is good for you. It helps you maintain a healthy weight, manage stress, sleep better, and increase your energy level. The great thing is that activity does the same for your pets! Not only will exercise help them live longer, but an exercising animal is also more alert and more content. Some people believe that their pets misbehave to get even for being left alone; but in reality, the cause is usually boredom from lack of exercise. Many other behaviour problems like chewing, digging, and barking go away once the animal starts getting regular activity.
Brisk walking is an ideal exercise for human and hound. The benefits include a stronger heart, lower blood pressure, more energy, denser bones, and a lower risk of depression.
Swimming works various muscles groups, improves endurance, and strengthens the heart and lungs. Not all dogs enjoy swimming, so start slowly.
Not all dogs are built to jog. Greyhounds, for example, are pros at short-distance sprinting, but can become fatigued during long-distance runs. Gradually build up to a 30-minute excursion. This should include five minutes of warm-up, 20 minutes of jogging, and five minutes of cool down.
Frisbee offers a classic canine workout. You can play a relaxed game at the park.
Develop a workout routine that's realistic, considering your job schedule and other demands on your time. Also consider your dog's needs -- working breeds and puppies usually need a lot of exercise. Start with a short-term goal of exercising five or 10 minutes every day. Gradually work up to 30 minutes on most days of the week. Keep in mind that narrow-bodied breeds, such as Doberman pinschers, should not exercise right after meals.

White Dogs- Tear Stain

Tear staining is obvious on white dogs as the stain is usually reddish brown. It is often associated with the Maltese, Shih Tzu and Poodles breeds. Whenever hair rests around the eyes, some amount of tear staining results from the hair wicking moisture from the eyes. It may also be some infections when tears are excessive. When the face hair is wet from excess tearing, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. Visit the veterinary for a solution.
I groomed Daka-Maltese last weekend and he is one of a well behave dog I have experience during grooming. My parents enjoy his present. You will be happy just looking at them as they always have this cheerful look. Maltese are gentle, loving, obedient and well-mannered creatures that love attention and affection. They love to run around in the yard, play chase and hop around in mud puddles. But, when playtime is over, they are superb cuddlers. They are also great with children,

Things You Should Know:
Maltese get along famously with children, but make sure children respect their space and play with them properly. Known for their good manners, Maltese demand a certain amount of respect and good treatment. As you can tell by looking at them, Maltese need daily grooming. Their coat is silky and very soft, so brush with care. They do not shed too much, making them a good choice for allergy sufferers. Also remember to clean their eyes, ears and beards regularly. Maltese can live as long as 18 years. Generally healthy, they can suffer from dental problems. Dog toys and biscuits that promote dental health can help keep their teeth strong and clean.

Prepare For The Final Journey

It makes me tears again when I happened to see Gigi's photo (my previous dog that passed away) in one of my facebook's album recently. The painful memories of how she suffered during her last stage of life kept reflecting in my mind. At the age of 9, she got kidney problem and was put on drip every day to flush out toxic in her bodies. We knew she wouldn't stay long as the doctor said the kidneys were 80% gone. I groomed her for the very last time and kept some of her fur. It was a torturing night to see her in pain. We send her to the vet at 4am. It was a painful decision and she left us at 7am. That was a day before Chinese New Year. I had phobia going back home and I kept myself away for a few days; probably the worst Chinese New Year I been through.
There are certain things as a responsible pet owner should know and do to make our dog's last phase of life a smooth transitioned to doggie heaven. The average lifespan of dogs are about 10 to 13 years. What are the signs of aging dog? Here are some that I have listed:
* Getting tired easily
* Hearing deteriorates
* Eyes form cloudy layers of cataract; which may slowly deprive them of their sight
* Week limbs
At more advances stages of ages; their hearts, livers and kidneys may also lose efficiency. Eventually, the dogs' immune system weaken and break down.
We should take our pets to the vet who can determine their condition, before deciding an appropriate action. It is important to maintain the dog's appetite by ensuring it eats well.
Dogs that lost its eyesight and hearing may knock into furnitures. Owners should place them in an enclosed but spacious area in the house.
Family members of aging dog should be mentally and physically prepared so that they can make their dog as comfortable as possible during their last stage of their journey. Get prepare with the vet's emergency contact number that is nearest to your place. Those dogs that passed away should be respected in disposing their bodies. The vet will have choices of how the cremation services will take place.
At least I am glad that all dogs go to heaven.

Basic Grooming Tips for your Dog

Basic Grooming is necessary for your pets as they are just like your baby. They need attention and care. Basic grooming that includes: ear cleaning/plucking of ear hair, clipping of nails, brushing of hair, brushing of teeth, shower and blow thoroughly dry. Before starting this profession, I don't have the habit to maintenance for my dog as I will leave it to groomer to do it quarterly. I feel extremely guilty now as due to the poor maintenance that may cause some "side effect" to our love ones. Such as skin problem, ear infection, overgrown of nails and odors from mouth and body.
Some dogs e.g. cocker and CKC, do easily get ear infection. Regular ear cleaning is essential. Schnauzer, Maltese and Shih Tzu need to have their ear hair plucked to remove as dirt may accumulate. Remember not to flush water into ear during shower... Their ears MUST be kept dry.
When I used to work in the pet shop, I experienced 7 out of 10 dogs having skin problems. Having them blow thoroughly dry can help to reduce body odors and prevent skin problem. Bear in mind brushing of hair is a MUST to help our love one removing matt and knot which can be easily gather around their under arms and legs. Brush their hair to loosen the matt before shower will be easier than brushing it after shower. Choosing the right shampoo can help to reduce itch and dandruff. Supplement does help in improving their skin or coat texture.
Start early with the brushing teeth habit (once their baby teeth are renewed) and send them for dental checkups will help in removing the algae build up. Chewy food will also help to keep their teeth white and refreshing.
Last but not least; nail clipping. Most doggy hate nail clipping, they can cry out loud or struggle to death during nail clipping. Don't Give UP!! It’s a MUST MUST thing to help our fury friend. Imagine they are walking on their nails instead of their paw if their nails are too long. That will lead them biting their nails. Don't blame them for doing that as it’s extremely painful.

Hotel for your dog

Having headache when you going for holidays and no one taking care of your dogs? In other countries, there are lots of "doggy resorts or hotels" available now not only attend to basic needs but cater to the whims of their clients. There are amenities vary but can include limousine pickup and delivery, themed décor, colorful playgrounds, toys, swimming pools, hiking trails, specialized meals, bottled water, baths, grooming, massage, television, comfortable beds, climate control, and piped in music. There are even personal attendants to play games or simply hang out with the dog, according to client instructions. And for owner peace of mind, some facilities offer webcam viewing. Sound like a five star hotel suite. Prices and pampered treatment does not come cheap. You may expect to pay a boom for a weeklong doggy vacation on top of your own holiday.

In Singapore, there are more and more pet shops offer boarding services. The boarding services may include meals, shower, walk the dog and grooming the dogs depending on the package that you pay. There is certification approved by Singapore's Primary Production Department. The boarding resort must meet the stringent demands set by the government to ensure professional responsibility to both the pets and their owners.
If there is someone that can take care of your pet for you, do make sure the environment can be easily adjusted by your pet. If the nanny does have their own pet around, ensure the pets are free of Ticks/ Flea. Bring sufficient foods for them to last for the whole vacation and their “favorites blanket/ toy” that they can let them feel sense of ownership as our fury friend will usually feel lonely.
Have a Good Holiday

Choosing the Right Pet

Elmo left for home two weeks ago. When he is not around, there is emptiness in the family and I can sense my family members miss him as much as I do. My dad even want to bring a stray dog home when he goes for his morning exercise. It started to trigger me whether I should start looking around for a new pet for the family. Time and effort that we need to spend with our fury friend is the first consideration and not forgetting giving them the special care and concern that they need. Training, guidance and giving them the best are the basic requirements. Is it the right time? What breed should I consider? Do I have time for them? These are some of my concerns.
How to chose the right pet for you and the family? Here are some thoughts that might hinder your consideration?

1. Any children or old parent that are staying with you?

2. Sufficient place for them to move about?

3. Big or small dogs?

4. Adopting an adult or buy a puppy?

5. Short or long coat?

The list may go on and on. Its good to read up on the breed's behavior and things that they need before bringing them home. They will be part of your family member giving you joy and happiness. If you had watched Marley and Me then you will understand what I mean. Have a good discussion with your family and good luck in your selection.

Hair Rebonding and Hair Loss

I had this special request from a customer to do a hair re-bonding for his dog. Curious, I asked around and found out that this practice is only done in a few salons in Singapore. Besides hair coloring, hair re-bonding could be the start of a new trend for our canine friends. Here’s the question. How would a groomer straighten the fur of dog breeds like Poodles, Schnauzers and Malteses’? My suggestion is to brush the coat, sector by sector, in one direction and with the aid of a hair dryer, this will make the dog’s fur straighter and fluffier, the two main points needed before you can actually trim the coat of these dogs. Unfortunately, this is only a temporary solution, as there is no chemical or straightening iron out there that can be used for dogs. Personally, I feel that this practice of re-bonding does not benefit our furry friends as it may cause long term damage to its coat and the underlying skin. Something as simple as regular brushing of your canine best friend’s coat will be good for it and it will also keep its coat more manageable, neat and matt free.
Hair loss for dogs is common, especially in hot climates, like what you find in Singapore. Dogs shed their coat to renew their inner coat. Breeds like the Siberian Husky, Jack Russell and the Golden Retriever, all possess an inner coat that helps them to keep warm in cold climates. It’s part of their body’s renewal system that allows their body to shed their inner coat. So the next time you start vacuuming your hose, don’t be surprised to see tufts of fur lying around. Dogs that shed a lot, must be groomed every 1-1.5 months.
There are also other reasons why dogs shed a lot. Factors like dietary changes, stress, hormone changes or imbalances, skin and health disorders (kidney problems, ringworms, ticks and fleas) contribute to this as well. Some owners rely on dietary supplements to facilitate a healthy coat for their canine best friend. Consult your vet on what supplements are suitable for your dog.

American or English Breakfast - Cocker Spaniel

Does all Cocker Spaniel look alike?? No they are actually not. There are two types of Cocker Spaniels; American and English. The one on the right is American Cocker Spaniel and left is English Cocker Spaniel. How can we differential from their look? The English Cocker Spaniel is slightly larger than the American Cocker. The most obvious difference can be seen in the head shapes. Compared to the English Cocker, the American Cocker's skull has a distinctly domed skull, as well as a deep pronounced stop and more clearly defined eyebrows. Also the American's lips tend to hang down farther and more loosely, and its eyes are slightly larger and set more to look straight ahead than of the English Cocker Spaniel. Finally the American Cocker has a more profuse coat than the English Cocker. I meet Whisky weekly for shower or grooming. He is such a lovely boy, when his daddy was away he boarded at his nanny's place. He made the family love him so much. He's going to join Milo at India soon. Really hope he can adjust himself well. He usually has weak stomach and hopefully those curry don't make him upset easily..
hehe :P
Cocker Spaniels are quick-to-learn, obey easily and have a sweet and trusting nature. They are generally good with strangers, but make an excellent watchdog when they feel that the home is threatened. They are amazingly adaptable. If you’re an active hiker, these dogs will keep pace with you all the livelong day. If you’re a couch potato, your Cocker Spaniel will gladly join you on the sofa. They’ll be perfectly happy in an apartment or house, as long as they get a decent amount of exercise and attention.
Things You Should Know
Being a popular pet for several decades, Cocker Spaniels have suffered from over-breeding, which has caused a number of health and personality issues—e.g. aggressiveness, shyness and roaming—that are not typical of the breed. Take care to socialize and train your Cocker Spaniel puppy to make them comfortable with children and other animals. Cocker Spaniels need daily grooming—washing and brushing—to keep their lovely coats in shape. Also, clean their ears regularly to prevent infection. A healthy Cocker Spaniel can live as long as 15 years. Common health problems include eye issues (glaucoma, cataracts), spinal problems and skin problems.

Shih Tzu- Russ Russ

Dogs are like human being, they do have temper. When we groom a temperamental dog, the whole grooming section will be very tense for both the groomer and dog. The dog may feel insecure and in order to protect themselves, they will tend to bite the groomer. As a groomer, we have to protect ourselves as well as the dog's safety. During our training, we have to observe how temperamental dogs will react and groomer should tame them down in order to continue the groomer section.
Recently, there was article on a groomer that killed a dog while grooming. I guess this had made owners more conscious on their dog’s safety and how the groomer's would react. When owners are around during grooming section, our fury friends are more coquette and tends to make noise to attract attention from their owners.
Russ was having a moody day when I groomed him. He tends to show tantrum when I pick his ear and trim his nails. Which made some degree of difficulty during grooming section. While, I should remind myself to bring along the muzzle next time. At the end of the day, we want both the dogs and the owners to be happy after the grooming section.
Things You Should Know
Shih Tzu usually adapt well to adults and children alike. Not especially suspicious of strangers, they still make an alert and consistent watchdog, barking heartily when people approach the house. They require more care than other breeds, especially when the hair is kept long. They need daily brushing and regular haircuts to avoid tangles. However, they shed very little dander, making them a great pet choice for people with allergies. Though good family dogs, Shih Tzu are not especially good with very young children. They cannot be handled roughly or awkwardly and tend to get snappish when their patience wears thin.
Feeding note: Keep an eye on Shih Tzu while they are drinking. Because their noses are so centrally located, water can easily block their breathing. A healthy Shih Tzu can live as long as 15 years. Common health issues include hip dysplasia, ear and kidney infections, and eye problems. Check their ears and eyes regularly for cleanliness. (You can even find special eye drops for them). They are great apartment dwellers, but not happy in hot climates. And while they don’t require as much exercise as a Lab, a daily walk is necessary.
(BTW, the photo was taken from a famous Shih Tzu breeder; Kitti Kongsricharoen from Thailand. He had won many awards on his Shih Tzu.. and thanks to my colleagues on some contributions when I have urge to write during my working hours Opps!! )

Final Grooming for U Baby - Miniature Schnauzer

Finally get to say goodbye to you Elmo. I believe you should be going home soon. On this particular weekday, I quickly rush home to groom him as I know this would probably be the last opportunity that I have. He is usually calm and steady when he is at the grooming table. It's good to train your dog to stand on table so that they feel more comfortable during grooming section. That's how Show Dogs are trained. Show dogs do have to practise standing straight and proud on table everyday.
I still prefer to have his coat short and neat as Schnauzers have beard. When they have their meals or drinks, its always very messy and wet which makes them untidy. Grooming them once a month would be a good. Schnauzers do have pointed or loop ears. My previous dog Gigi have pointed ear which makes her look like a goat. For Show dogs, when they are about 8 to 10 weeks they will have their ear crop as this will make their ear sharp and pointed. Though they look more alert and smarter but going through cropping at such a young age can be quite cruel. That's why Singapore ban this cropping of ears years back.

Things You Should Know:
Miniature Schnauzers are high-energy dogs. Without lots of exercises and activities, they can go a little stir-crazy and buggy and mischievous. Miniature Schnauzers, if neglected or not sufficiently exercised, can become destructive or get into other types of trouble.
Miniature Schnauzers need to be brushed regularly to avoid matting. You might want to occasionally trim their beards as well. A healthy Miniature Schnauzer can live as long as 15 years, aging gracefully. Relatively healthy, they can sometimes develop eye problems, kidney stones and diabetes.

Back to India - Milo; Silky Terrier

Remember that silky terrier from my gallery? He is migrating to India coming Monday. He will jumping and kiss me when I am at his place weekly to shower him.
He is good boy when I groomed him. Sad to see him leave.. Bon vonyage

The Silky Terrier originated when Australian breeders mixed Yorkshire Terriers with native Australian Terriers to improve the latter’s blue & tan coat color.
Silky Terriers get along very well with children, but they don’t have the patience for sudden moves and rough play. Also, they can sometimes be demanding and stubborn if they don’t get their way. Make sure they get plenty of exercise and attention, and they will have a consistently great attitude. They can live as long as 15 years. A relatively healthy breed, some Silkies can develop diabetes and epilepsy. Grooming can take a little time and energy, but it’s worth it: Daily brushing and bathing can prevent their long hair from becoming tangled or matted. Some trimming is required, and some owners choose to tie their dog’s head hair in a bow so it doesn’t fall over the eyes.

Grooming Puppy- Westie

Milky is sweet and playful. She loves kiss kiss and treats but dislike shower. That's strange I though all kids enjoy playing with water :) Milky is just 3 months old; afraid that I might fracture the bones so dare not treat her like those adult. Tender Loving Care will be my first priority. She tends to struggle quite a far bit when I groom her head. In the end her mummy and daddy have to get involve in the grooming section. Helping me to get her distracted and holding on to her when she saw the scissor and clipper coming towards her. I guess I got to practice and pick up more from this experience.
West Highland Terriers (Westie) have burst of energy, curiosity and playfulness. This can involve playing games inside or out, chasing small animals or digging—or all of them at the same time! Though high-energy dogs, Westie don’t require too many walks or jogs to stay mentally and physically healthy.
They are loyal and devoted pets—a great family dog. They get along with children and are very friendly with strangers. However, they can be quite effective guard dogs, barking wholeheartedly if they sense danger.
Things that might interest you:
These dogs have a self-confidence and self-reliance that can be good (resulting in resourceful play and solid companionship) or bad (resulting in destructiveness). Though independent, Westies need attention and activity or they can become restless. Left alone for too long, they could dig up a garden, chew things or get involved in other forms of mischief.
Westies are relatively clean and odorless, but they still need daily brushing to keep their coat under control. A healthy West Highland Terrier can live as long as 14years. Common health problems include joint deterioration and skin allergies

So start getting active with your Westie :p

Mischiever "Bear"- The Golden Retriever

Bear Bear is the second golden retriever that I come across that is hyper active.
Retriever are well known to be eager, loving, intelligent and playful, these dogs have boundless energy and very few behavior problems. He will bite anything that you drop on the floor. Such as tissue, bottles, balls. etc. He hide my tools under the table and I have to start searching for them.
They are not particularly aggressive, territorial, manipulative or destructive. However, like Labrador Retrievers, they can be a little boisterous and intense as puppies, chewing furniture and retrieving an endless assortment of unwanted objects. The best way to manage this hyperactivity is to keep them running. Golden Retrievers love to play outdoors, swim and fetch balls and sticks, not to mention roll around in the mud. And they’re always game for a cross-country run or to follow you during a bike ride.
Goldens love to carry things around in their mouths – and not just tennis balls. If they find something they like, e.g., a stick, a toy or a shoe, they’ll carry it around for days.

Things that might interest you;
Golden Retrievers love tasks and challenges. They are also quick learners and eager to please. But, keep in mind: Goldens will keep going until they collapse. Never the types to fixate on a single person, Goldens get along with the whole family and are especially patient and outgoing with children. However, a high-energy Golden Retriever (especially a young one) can accidentally bump into or knock over a child during play. Like most dogs their size, Golden Retrievers normally live between 10-12 years. Common health problems include hip dysplasia and skin allergies. Plenty of exercise and moderate rations of food will keep them healthy for years to come.
Ready to get a retriever for your family?

Dog's social network - Dogster

Just like our version of Facebook, your pets can expand their social circle and get to know other pets by asking them to be their friends. Pet owners are interact with others on Catbook and Dogbook for social network.
I have just register myself to the dogster. Its quite fun and informative. Beside the social benefits, the site also serve as an educational platform for owners to exchange stories, share tips on living with specific breeds, and swap information on where to bring their pets and activities that can be done together.
Besides Dogster, Catster there is also Hamsterster.. interesting right. Start getting your pet to be a social networker.

Tick Life Cycle

Have you seen a tick before? I have seen small to medium ticks that are brown in color and big ticks are grey in color. When you squeeze them, blood will spurt out and they will be dead.
I have research and found the following life cycle of a tick. Its interesting..
A tick begins its life as an egg. When the egg hatches, a six-legged larva emerges. After feeding, the larva drops to the ground to digest its food and begin to grow. After one to three weeks, the larva molts and becomes a nymph. A tick nymph has eight legs and looks like a smaller version of an adult tick. Some species of soft tick molt several times, consuming a blood meal before each molt. After its final molt, the tick is an adult. An adult tick has one job -- to reproduce. In hard ticks, the female tick attaches to a host and feeds, often for more than 24 hours, before mating. The male tick feeds before mating as well, but he's often a fraction of the size of the engorged female when mating takes place. Often, the male dies after mating, and the female dies after laying anywhere from 2,000 to 18,000 eggs. Soft ticks are an exception. Many species of soft tick eat several smaller blood meals and lay eggs several times. This is one reason soft ticks don't consume as much blood in one sitting or swell to the extent that hard ticks do.
In the next column I will be looking into how to prevent ticks… Stay Tuned.

Wonderful Experience

It’s been a pride to make the dogs neat and beautiful when the owner is happy.
I have groom 3 dogs in a day. Its nothing as I have done it before in the school.
But its make a difference as it’s the first time I done it at home..
What makes it harder when two of them have ticks.. (ya going to find out more about this TICKS' things)
helping them de-tick.. santizing the area, tools and make the place clean before handling the next dogs.. its quite haetic though.

After cleaning up the dogs and place and finally cleaning up myself.
One of them got dirreahoe and the poo mess up the other dogs.. Hard work wasted!! Got to get them shower again.
After clean up the poo, the other one urine and follow by poo..
There is always first time.. Got to learn from experience. At least I will be well prepare for the next time..
Tell you more about the tick thing next time then.

Can Dogs see "those" things?

Since young I have this believe that dogs can see "those" spirit stuff as they have this special eyes that allow them to see those spirits. Is it true? Don't really know. But have this feeling that they can see. My previous dog; Gigi would sometimes stare at the balcony as if someone is there at night.
My sister got a shock from Elmo when he suddenly dashed onto her bed while she was sleeping. He was shivering and staring at the door and when she carried him down, he kept jumping back to the bed and looked scared. So dogs also scared of ghost huh...

I found this from some websites:
"Dogs can see spirits. They often respond to a spirit by barking. Dogs are also prone to attacks by spirits. Spirits are everywhere, we do not see them. But when they see the spirits, the spirits can also attack them because they do not want the dogs to reveal their presence to the humans. So they threaten and sometimes even hurt the dogs. That is when dogs begin to bark at the spirits. The spirits will sometimes also get into the dreams of the dogs, causing the dogs to have sleep disturbances."
How True?? For you to find out.. Don't ask me to find out cos I am scared too.

Imperfect Dog

I had read this article this morning. "A mongrel was found lived off scraps of food at construction site at Kallang and was rescued and rehome by animal welfare group. They have rehouse these Singapore strays overseas because fewer and fewer Singaporeans are keen to adpot them. Dogs owner in Western countries are said more welcoming of non-pedigreed."imprefect" dogs, unlike in Singapore."
Sometimes ago I was considering to adpoting a Bellington cross Schanuzer. The first thought I have is it a cross breed. I am thinking in two positions: if I am a dog lover; I should keep the dog to take care and give them whatever love. As well as thinking as a groomer point of view; I can't bring the dog for show or any compeition should I keep?? Probably i am too selfish, I did not keep the dog eventually as I don't want to neglect her one day.
I have come across this couple who import numbers of quality show dogs specially for show. One dog can easily cost about $30K or more. They have give away one of their show dog just because the tail don't stand. Its consider "faulty" for show breed. I feel sad for the dog as they didn't chose to born imprefect. Somehow, Nana; that Kerry Blue Terrier was given to a dog lover. I believe Nana will be famous one day.
Just tell your previous owner wait and see.

How to make Elmo stay?

Its been tough to send him home. Everyone ask me to keep him if I love him.
He would not be as happy when he is back home. His daddy have been travelling and have no time for him.
There are another two more sibbings at home and sometimes they do fight.
Sometimes, i just wonder if I love him should fight for him to stay with us.
Does Elmo have a choice of his own? How I wish he can talk..
So how Elmo do you want to go home?

Getting Started

I have started my freelance business.. Start to groom friends' dogs and hope they like my services.
In the meantime getting my tools ready; preparing my system set up, namecard printed, schedule for pet pick up,
spreading my business through words of mouth.
After the completion of my course, finally I find these are more fulfilling weekends where the ROI comes in.
Although I feel tired especially every Monday morning, but at least this is own my business.
Help me to spread around k. Thanks :)

Elmo - the active and cheerful boy

It’s been one and a half week since Elmo was with us. He brought back a lot of memories of Gigi to our family. Initially we kept calling him the wrong name and now we are getting used to him.
He is playful and super active as compare to Gigi. Gender makes a difference I guess.
Initially he woke up in the middle of the night to snuff on me. Maybe he is not used to the environment. Now he wakes up at 6.00am to have his breakfast and business and watches us off to work every morning. He will then wait at the door for our return.
He will keep jumping onto us and run around us for 3mins. This makes me warm and happy. Sometimes I will rush home to see this moment.
I keep telling myself not to be so attached to him. Eventually he has to go home.
The picture I took was before the contest.. Elmo let's have a good show on Sunday.

02Aug2009- SKC

Sometimes it hard to make decision when all things come at one time.
Firstly, my dad health deteriorate which make the family get tense. Especially my mum, she get more busy and have to give him more attention.
02Aug could be a graduate from then.. That would be my examination from my Pet's grooming.
First of all its hard to get a dog for that competition.. The dog that is going for competition need to have predigree cert, must be stripped in advance and etc. I am so glad my friend can lend me his Elmo (Miniture Schnauazer) for compeition and allow me to bring him back for maintainence. Secondly when I mention this to mum, she is quite oppose to the idea (Bringing Elmo back to stay for two weeks). Although we used to have Gigi around.
